well as to be allowed some measure of co-operation, or at
least advice, from their assistant Mr.Hakon Schluter.
The telegram quoted above would appear to indicate that
the Liquidators are not convinced of the complete elimination
of Messrs. Reuter Brockelmann & Co. from this business.
We therefore venture to submit to you the following
points:
a) Our Contract of 19th February 1915 with the Texas Company
of New York and Houston (Texas), from which it is quite
clear that no one is concerned but that Company and our-
selves.
b) A copy of our Agreement with Mr. Humphrey Cheetham,
from which it is clear that he is to act for us alone
as the Agents of the Texas Company.
c) Copies of our telegrams of the 1st & 17th April to
Mr.Cheetham, who was on those dates still in Shanghai,
making it clear to him that there was no third party
interested in the matter.
In addition we would mention that the leases of the go-
downs in which this oil is stored in Hongkong, were about
to expire a few weeks ago, and we had them renewed for the
Texas Company by the solicitors of our friends, the Hongkong
& Shanghai Banking Corporation, and quite independently of
anyone hitherto connected with this business.
We have in fact definitely and thoroughly eliminated Messrs.
Reuter, Brockelmann & Co. from this business, and in support of
